Rated as one of the most difficult starting holes in Cleveland
County, this seemingly benign opening hole can offer a putt for
birdie as easily it can offer a putt for bogie or higher. From
the back tees, challenging the fairway bunker on the right requires
a shot of 250 yards, but dramatically reduces the approach to a
mid-short iron. With OB on the right, one should be cautious
if taking an aggressive line on the first hole of the day.
Playing safe to the left of the trap brings into play the OB on the
left and leaves a long iron approach in your hands. Number one
is truly a risk/reward hole.
